He made two big mugs of tea. Cassie stirred some honey and lemon in hers, sipping her tea with the teaspoon intermittently.

“So, what’s up?”

Jimmy drew in a breath. “I need to—no, I want to tell you something.” He paused, considering his words. It didn’t matter that he had rehearsed this in his head for hours—days—he found he still needed to rehearse it one more time before saying it.

"I saw Duncan come out of your bedroom this morning," Cassie says. "And I saw you yesterday." She turns to look at her dad. "Kissing."

"Ah," says Jimmy and sits down next to her. The sea view is dark today; steel grey meeting steel blue. "Are you upset?"
